While traveling in Morocco in 2012, I spent time just wandering the souk (market) in Marrakech, I came across a tiny dusty shop with lots of colorful old beads and jewelry (my favorite). Inside the shop, I rummaged through the old beads. After several mint teas and hours of talking with the shop owner he brought me a little bowl of broken pieces. For me this is the treasure trove. I found so many things for inspiration. Years later I made the Morocco Collection, with each piece inspired by what I found in that bowl of broken pieces. This piece, I call the flower necklace, each petal represents a direction on the compass. Berber jewelry often has symbols representing direction. This necklace is a reminder for us to be seeking our true north.
